Artist's Comments

This work was thought out completely before I even set up the photos.

I was having a fight with my mother, and I had said something that she thought was a lie, and was going on about how she thought we were done with me lying to her, and how irresponsible I was, even though in the end she finally realized that I wasn't lying.

But during this, she took away certain privileges. I was really frustrated, and decided to find a way to represent what was going on trough my art. My mother felt like she was being stabbed in the back, that's where the knife comes from. I thought I was being treated like a prisoner, and I didn't do anything, so if you look closely enough to the right hand photograph, you can see that you can’t see my face, but it's a rope wrapped around my wrists.

I also purposefully did the opposite colors; the white being the main subject on one, and black being the main subject on the other, as our views on this matter were completely opposite from each others.

The text was preplanned also, but I can't remember when it came to me. The knife says 'I thought we were done with that.' and under the person (me!) it says 'so did I.' which fits in with what each picture represents.

That's about it; if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I remember, you showed me this one once. It reminded me of things I'd rather not bring up, but excellent all the same.
